Still Life

Hi,
I haven’t updated the blog very much recently as I’ve been quite busy but hopefully I can start doing a bit more painting now! This is a still life I painted at my Wednesday night drawing class at the Lavender Hill studios. It was out first piece with oils and was done in two 3 hour sessions. The scanner didn’t like the texture on the canvas board very much so there is a smaller image to give a better idea of what it looks like from a distance. I really enjoyed painting it….I wish I’d finished the cork in the bottle off as it very flat compared to the rest of the image…..but it’s a bit late now. I tried to keep it as simple as possible and hold back on the detail until the last half hour or so. Anyway, hope you like it.
